The Role

Build the future of patent law with Inventex. As our first engineering hire, you'll shape our technical vision and build AI systems that deliver attorney-quality patent applications at scale. You'll join us at a crucial moment - we have a pipeline full of customers, strong backing from top investors, and a clear path to revolutionizing a $60B industry. This is a rare opportunity to own the technical vision of a growing startup from day one, while working directly with our technical founder to scale our business.

In this role, you will:

• Play a key role in building and growing the business for years to come
• Build and own our core AI/ML systems for patent drafting and analysis
  • Our current stack is Python, Langchain, neo4j, and mongo for our inference engine; and Node.JS, Angular, and Mongo for our customer-facing application.
• Design and implement our invention discovery and patent prosecution pipelines
• Work directly with customers and legal partners to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Partner with our technical founder to shape product strategy and drive customer success

You likely have:

• Strong experience with modern ML frameworks and LLMs
• Track record of shipping production ML systems
• Ability to work independently, and build from 0-1, in a fast-paced startup environment

Nice to haves:

• Experience with legal documents or patent analysis
• Background in NLP/language generation
• Previous startup experience (first 1-3 engineers in the door at a growth startup)
